Aims to provide services to help patients achieve maximum functional recovery and wellness.
Physical Therapy is the treatment and prevention of illness and injury with PHYSICAL MODALITIES AND/OR AGENTS, such as the use of light, cold, heat, water, sound, electrical stimulation, and exercises.
Occupational Therapy practices in the area of physical dysfunction which focuses on functional training guided by occupation-based practice
Maintain Strength – Muscles often lose strength after illness or injury and must be retrained to perform as normal.
Regain Motion – Unaffected muscles and tissues can be trained to “take over” for the damaged tissue. Muscles with damaged nerve supply may be retrained.
Achieve Independence – All treatment is aimed at helping the patient to return to their home, earn a living and resume normal responsibilities as much as he or she is able.
Initially, Consultation and assessment will be conducted by the Physiatrist (Rehabilitation Medicine Physician).
The length of the treatment plan and frequency of visits is based on the specific injury/condition and physiatric evaluation and care plan (management).
Each therapy session, the patient will work with the Physical Therapist/Occupational Therapist, who will instruct and supervise the patient.
To get the patient back to optimal functionality quickly and safely, the patient will likely have more than one session in a week.
The patient may be provided with a home exercise program that compliments the plan of care.
