Davao City, Philippines | The Davao Doctors Hospital (DDH) has stepped up its campaign on cancer awareness by launching the Christmas Tree of Hope in partnership with DDH Balik-Alay Foundation to make the yuletide celebration more significant.
As part of Davao Doctors Hospital’s (DDH) Ribbon of Hope: Cancer Awareness Campaign, the Christmas Tree of Hope; this awareness activity encourage partner organizations and companies to put up a Christmas tree in their respective establishments. Trees shall be adorned with ribbons representing twelve (12) types of cancer. Each ribbon contains a message of hope or a prayer for cancer victims.
DDH is conducting several awareness lectures on the detection and prevention of cancer with partner establishments with the aim of informing and inspiring the members of the organization to actively support the Ribbon of Hope campaign.
The Christmas Tree of Hope was officially launched last November 16,2016 with a lighting ceremony at the hospital’s driveway. Representatives from government sectors, partner institutions, and DDH management and staff witnessed the lighting ceremony.
The program started with an offertory prayer by Fr. Alfeo Botero, Director of the Health Ministry of the Archdiocese of Davao. Dr. Conception Damaso-Rayel, a DDH consultant gave an inspirational message and a testimony of hope and perseverance by Mr. Glenn Serales, a DDH patient and cancer survivor.
Dr. Rizalina Pangan of DDH Balik-Alay Foundation led the ceremonial ribbon cutting with Ms. Elizabeth Dureza, and Dr. Sharon Lily D. Valdez of Department of Health RO XI.
