Davao City – The Davao Doctors Hospital Institutional Ethics Review Committee (DDH IERC) was granted a Level 3 Accreditation by Philippine Health Research Ethics Board (PHREB) last August 12, 2014. This is the first PHREB accreditation that has been awarded to DDH IERC, and the first to be awarded to a private hospital in Visayas and Mindanao.
PHREB, established in 2003 by the Philippine National Health Research System (PNHRS), is the national policy-making body in health research ethics in the Philippines. It is also the only national accrediting body for ethics review committees in the country.
A level 3 accreditation represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to a research ethics review committee. With its new accredited status, DDH IERC can now review all types of researches, including clinical drug trials. It also has the privilege to be part of the Ethics Review Research Committees of the Philippine Food and Drug Administration.
This accreditation showcases the commitment of DDH IERC in upholding the standards set by PHREB and the PNHRS in the conduct of quality, scientific and ethical review of research protocols.
The DDH IERC is an independent, multi-disciplinary and multi-center group of professionals that reviews the clinical studies conducted in Davao Doctors Hospital. It has been in operation since March 31, 2000. Its office is located at 4/F Oncology Building, Davao Doctors Hospital, 118 Quirino Ave, Davao City.
